CarterBaldwin Places Former Bush Secretary Cherie Harder
As Chief Executive Officer at The Trinity Forum
Executive search firm CarterBaldwin recruits Laura Bush’s Special Assistant Cherie Harder to serve as President of The Trinity Forum
Roswell, GA – March 19, 2008 – CarterBaldwin Executive Search, a leading provider of retained executive search services, today announced that Cherie Harder has been named President of The Trinity Forum. Harder comes to the nonprofit leadership academy from the White House, where she has been serving as Special Assistant to the President and Director of Policy and Projects for First Lady Laura Bush. Harder will succeed Dr. Luder G. Whitlock, Jr., who has served the Georgetown-based forum as Executive Director since 2003.
The Trinity Forum is a non-profit leadership academy that addresses leading ideas of the day in the context of faith. It facilitates seminars, discussions, retreats, and lectures for leaders in North America, Europe, and Asia. Harder, who assumes duties this month, has previously served as a mentor to several classes of the Trinity Forum Academy, the nine-month residential learning community for recent college graduates.
Harder will bring both government and non-profit advisory experience to her new position. Before joining the First Lady’s staff in early 2007, she served as Policy Advisor to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. As Senior Counselor to the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) from 2001 to 2005, she helped to design the “We the People” initiative to enhance the teaching, study, and understanding of American history. Prior to that she was the Policy Director for Senator Sam Brownback.
CarterBaldwin’s founding partner Price Harding, III, who has 18 years of experience in executive search as well as a degree in theology, has developed a specialty practice in finding C Suite executives and board directors for non-profit and institutional clients like The Trinity Forum. He described Cherie Harder’s qualifications for the position as “a rare combination. She has the business and policy leadership experience, but also the demonstrated faith and values commitment that will enable her to promote and communicate Trinity’s mission.”
Other non-profit and institutional clients for whom CarterBaldwin has led successful executive searches include Bayside Church, Generous Giving, The National Christian Foundation and Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD).
