CarterBaldwin Places IT Leader Mike McClaskey in Chief Information Officer Role for EchoStar Communications
Roswell, GA – March 10, 2008 – CarterBaldwin Executive Search, a leading provider of retained executive search services, announced this week that its search to fill the CIO position for EchoStar Communications has ended in the selection of Mike McClaskey, formerly of Perot Systems Corporation. As the senior information technology leader, McClaskey’s role will be to develop the overall information technology mission, its strategic objectives and supporting tactical plans. As CIO for EchoStar he will also manage a 900+ person IT staff consisting of internal, off-shore and contract professionals.
McClaskey’s most recent background includes 12 years with Perot Systems where he served as Group Director for New Business Development of Global Infrastructure Services before becoming CIO and senior leader for Infrastructure Solutions in 2002. To his new tenure with EchoStar he will bring broad experience in enterprise IT operations and governance, technology strategy, outsourcing and globalization.
CarterBaldwin partner Margaret A. (Maggie) Bellville led the search efforts for EchoStar. “This was a critical position for EchoStar,” said Bellville. “Theirs is a large, complex environment and the candidate we were looking for had to have significant hands-on technology transformation leadership experience.” Bellville, who joined CarterBaldwin in 2005 to establish a specialty practice area in Telecommunications and Broadband, employed her own hands-on experience in the search, from the creation of the search profile through presentation of relevant findings to EchoStar.
“Mike McClaskey is a perfect fit for EchoStar,” continued Bellville. “He’s been an innovative, award-winning CIO for over 20 years. He fully understands that after ten years of explosive growth EchoStar is ready for a deliberate strategic plan—a sound strategy for assessing the objectives and priorities for going forward into the next stage.”
